British outdoor brand [Rab](https://rab.equipment) (owned by [Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd.](http://www.equipuk.com)) is launching the next generation of its [Microlight](https://rab.equipment/uk/microlight-collection?filter_gender=Women%27s) range, further expanding one of its most trusted insulation families for every mountain adventure.
Since its introduction in 2008, the Microlight has been designed to be used intensively, repaired when needed and worn over many seasons. In 2020, Rab switched the collection to 100% recycled down, recycled outer fabrics and recycled nylon linings – without compromising warmth, durability or comfort. Since autumn/winter 2024, the entire product family has also been fully PFAS-compliant, meeting legal requirements ahead of their entry into force.
For autumn/winter 2026, Rab is evolving the iconic range with fresh designs, optimised technologies and new models that increase versatility without giving up the proven features that have made it so popular.
Microlight Alpine Hoody: The icon – evolved
The updated [Microlight Alpine Hoody](https://rab.equipment/womens-microlight-alpine-down-jacket) remains at the heart of the range. Combining hydrophobic down (700 fill power, 100% recycled) with lightweight Pertex® Quantum fabric – made from NetPlus® yarn, which in turn is made entirely from recycled fishing nets – it offers versatile warmth in a compact packed size. The zoned construction with micro and nano baffles maximises loft and heat retention without adding unnecessary bulk. A hoodless version and a vest are also available.
Microlighter: Active warmth for dynamic pursuits
The new [Microlighter](https://rab.equipment/mens-microlighter-pullover-down-hooded-jacket) uses breathable TXdown® sheet insulation (a blend of down and recycled fibres, with 75% recycled content) alongside lightweight Pertex® Quantum fabric with NetPlus® yarn made entirely from recycled fishing nets. It provides lightweight warmth for hiking, climbing and fast-paced mountain activities. Versatile and exceptionally packable, the model is designed for changing activity levels and weather conditions. The Microlighter is available in both hooded and hoodless versions.
Microlight Shield: The first waterproof Microlight
The [Microlight Shield](https://rab.equipment/womens-microlight-shield-waterproof-down-jacket) is the first waterproof version in the Microlight range. It combines a waterproof two-layer Pertex® Shield outer fabric with 700-fill-power down insulation (100% recycled), bringing warmth and weather protection together in a single garment – ideal for cold, wet winter weather.
Microlight X: Maximum performance, minimum weight
Developed for climbers and mountaineers, the limited-edition Microlight X combines lightweight ripstop fabric with premium down (800 fill power). The result is the most technically advanced Microlight version, ideally suited to fast, weight-conscious mountain pursuits.
Responsible materials with a big impact
A key update is the introduction of Pertex® Quantum with [NetPlus®](https://bureo.co/) in the Microlight Alpine Hoody, Microlight Jacket, Microlight Vest and Microlighter. For the AW26 collection, Rab is using more than 363,000 metres of fabric with NetPlus®, repurposing over 22 tonnes of discarded fishing nets – without compromising the performance expected of technical mountain equipment.
The launch is at the heart of Rab’s “It’s Good To Know What You're Made Of” campaign, which celebrates both product performance and the materials, people and stories behind it.
